Last Updated 01/14/2020

Battery Handling Systems, Inc. and BHS Global, Ltd. (collectively “BHS,” “we,” “us” and/or “our”) are committed to honoring the privacy of the visitors (“you” “user” and/or “your”) to our company website https://www.bhs1.com/ (and all corresponding BHS subdomains and region-specific websites, collectively the “Site”).

This policy (herein the “Policy” or “Privacy Policy”) describes how we collect, store, use and protect your personal information when you access or use the Site and all associated digital services (collectively, “BHS Services” or “Services”) that link to this Privacy Policy.

1. Acceptance

This Privacy Policy is part of, and is governed by, our Terms of Use, a link to which can be found on our Site. We request that you carefully review this Privacy Policy, the Terms of Use, and any other applicable policies prior to using our Services. By accepting the Terms of Use, you agree with our privacy practices as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not feel comfortable with any part of this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Use, do not use or access our Services.

2. Changes to this Policy

We may change this Policy from time-to-time by updating this page. For that reason, we encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically and to take note of the date of the most recent revision.

If we make a material change to this Policy, we will provide you with notice on our Services or to the email address we have on file. By continuing to use the Services after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Policy. In addition, we may provide you with additional “just in time” disclosures about our data collection, usage, or sharing practices when you interact with specific parts of our Services.

3. Information We Collect

(a) Information you provide to us

We collect information that may include your personal information. Personal information is any information that may reasonably be used to identify you (such as your name, address, and email address).

We collect some of the information you voluntarily choose to provide to us. Generally, such information will consist of information you enter on any of the forms or logins found on our site. For example, we may collect personal information when you create an account, fill out a form on the Site (e.g., to request product information, register for the BHS Sales Academy, etc.), place an order, sign up to receive a newsletter, or ask a question through our “Contact Us” form. Such information may include the following:

  • Personal information such as your name, company, job title, address, phone number, e-mail address, username and password when you create an account or request information about a product or service from us.
  • Your preferences and interests, information obtained through customer surveys and/or offers, or other information that you provide us through customer service inquiries.
  • Financial information (such as credit card numbers) in connection with a transaction or purchase from our eStore.

(b) Automatic Information

We also automatically collect certain information when you use our Services. This includes information we receive from our Site’s devices when you access our Services, web-behavior information via cookies and other similar tracking technologies (as discussed in the next section) when you use or access our Services, and technical information automatically collected by our web server (which may be hosted by a third party), such as the identity of your internet service provider and the type of browser that you use. Each time you visit the Site, our web server automatically recognizes (where possible) and collects this information.

When you use our Services, we may automatically collect the following information about you:

  • Device Information: We may collect information about the device you use to access or use our Services. For example, we may collect information such as your device ID or unique identifier, device type, and browser type and version.
  • Computer and Connection Information: We may collect information such as statistics on page views, traffic to and from the Services, referral URL, your IP address, your browsing history, and standard web log information.
  • Activity Data: While accessing or using our Services, we may collect details regarding your activity on the Site (e.g., browser type and language, performance and usage data) and web-behavior information collected through tracking technology such as cookies.

An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a number assigned to your computer when you connect to the Internet. As part of the protocol of the Internet, web servers can identify your computer by its IP address. In addition, web servers may be able to identify the type of browser you are using or even the type of computer. This information does not identify you personally.

We collect IP addresses for the purposes of system administration and to assess the traffic to our Site. We aggregate this data with data on the pages visited by other users to track overall visitor traffic patterns. We use this information to improve our Site by making it more responsive to the needs and preferences of our users. We do not combine, associate or link IP addresses to your personally identifiable information.

4. Cookies and Other Technologies

Our Site uses “cookies” and other similar tracking technologies including web beacons and pixel tags. A cookie is a small file which is downloaded to your browsing device (such as a computer or mobile device) and is placed on your device or computer's hard drive when you visit our Site or Services. Cookies help analyze web traffic or let you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow websites and web applications to recognize your browsing device. The website or web application can then tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by recalling information about your preferences. A cookie cannot read data off your hard drive or read cookie files created by other websites.

We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages on the Site you are visiting. This helps us analyze data about web page traffic generally and improve our Site in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website, by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us. You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can typically modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer, by following the instructions below for managing cookies. Disabling or deleting cookies, however, may prevent you from taking full advantage of our websites.

In addition to cookies, we may use other similar technologies, like web beacons, flash cookies, or pixels to track how you use our Services. Pixel tags are very small images or small pieces of data embedded in images, also known as “web beacons” or “clear GIFs,” that can recognize cookies, the time and date a page is viewed, a description of the page where the pixel tag is placed, and similar information from your computer or device. We may also use so-called "flash cookies" (also known as “Local Shared Objects” or "LSOs") to collect and store information about your use of our Services. Flash cookies are commonly used for advertisements and videos. We will generally refer to cookies, web beacons, and flash cookies as “cookies” in this policy

We generally treat information collected by cookies and other tracking technologies as non-personal information. However, to the extent that IP addresses or similar identifiers are considered personal information by local law, we treat cookie information with identifiers as personal information.

Information that may be collected by cookies when you use the Service may include, without limitation:

  • the pages you visit within the Site;
  • the date and time of your visit to the Site;
  • the amount of time you spend using the Site;
  • the Internet IP address used to connect your computer to the Internet; and/or
  • your computer and connection information such as your browser type and version, operating system and platform.

If we use cookies, some of the functions performed by cookies could be strictly necessary for us to be able to offer you our Service, while other cookies provide us with valuable insight about how we can improve our Service or help us with marketing our products and services to you based on your interests and preferences.

The length of time a cookie will stay on your browsing device depends on whether it is a "persistent" or "session" cookie. Session cookies will only stay on your device until you stop browsing. Persistent cookies stay on your browsing device until they expire or are deleted (i.e. after you have finished browsing).

a. First and Third-Party Cookies

When you access our Services, we or companies we work with may place cookies on your computer or other device. These technologies help us better understand user behavior, and inform us about which parts of our websites people have visited.

We may use both first-party and third-party cookies on our Service. First-party cookies are cookies that are placed on your device by us, while third-party cookies are set by parties other than BHS. Third-party cookies are operated by third parties that can recognize your device both when it visits our Service and when it visits other websites or mobile apps. BHS does not control how third-party cookies are used, and we encourage you to check the websites of any third-party cookie providers for more information about how they use cookie information.

b. Analytics

We may also use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. or other similar analytic services. The cookies and other technologies used by these analytic services may collect personal information, but BHS does not use these services to gather information that personally identifies you. The information generated by these analytic services will be transmitted to and stored by the third party analytic provider and will be subject to that organization’s privacy policies. You may exercise choices regarding the use of cookies by changing your browser settings or by downloading certain plugins.

How to manage or disable cookies

To manage cookies and similar tracking technologies:

  • First-Party Cookies. You can use the browser with which you are viewing this website to enable, disable or delete cookies to the extent there are any. To do this, follow the instructions provided by your browser (usually located within the “Help”, “Tools”, or “Edit” settings). Please note: if you set your browser to disable cookies, you may not be able to access secure areas of the Site. Also, if you disable cookies other parts of the Services may not work properly. You can find more information about how to change your browser cookie settings at http://www.allaboutcookies.org.
  • Third-Party Cookies. To the extent we use them, you can opt-out of third-party advertising networks and similar entities that use targeting/advertising cookies, go to http://www.aboutads.info/choices. Once you click the link, you may choose to opt-out of such advertising from all participating advertising companies or only advertising provided by specific advertising entities. For more information about third-party advertising networks and similar entities that use these technologies, please see http://www.aboutads.info/consumers.
  • Do Not Track. Some Internet browsers - like Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari - include the ability to transmit "Do Not Track" or "DNT" signals. Since uniform standards for DNT signals have not been adopted, our Site does not currently process or respond to DNT signals.
  • Flash Cookies. If you do not want Flash Cookies stored on your computer, you can adjust the settings of your Flash player to block Flash Cookies storage using the tools contained in the website storage settings panel. You can also control Flash Cookies by going to the global storage settings panel and following the instructions. Setting the Flash Player to restrict or limit acceptance of Flash Cookies may reduce or impede the functionality of some Flash applications, including, potentially, Flash applications used in connection with our services or online content.
